Mr. Virgin is currently the Chief Financial Officer for HipCricket, Inc., a mobile marketing and technology company that connects its clients directly with their customers, and directs all aspects of the company’s financial operations. He has a wealth of knowledge accrued from financial management in large and small company environments.  

Most recently, Mr. Virgin was Executive Vice President and CFO for Talyst Inc.  Talyst provides software and equipment solutions to improve patient safety and operational efficiency in acute care hospitals, integrated delivery networks, and long-term-care pharmacies.  In March 2007, the readers of Fast Company magazine named Talyst to the magazine’s “Fast 50 Reader Favorites” list, recognizing 50 of the most innovative, progressive “profit-driven solutions for what ails the planet.” Talyst was listed on the Puget Sound Business Journal’s fastest growing companies for 2005 and 2006.  In 2007, Mr. Virgin was the recipient of the Puget Sound Business Journal CFO of the Year Award, Small Private Company Category.  

Before joining Talyst, Mr. Virgin was Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer for WizKids, a company that created and sold collectible miniature games.  He joined WizKids during its first year of operation, in 2001, and helped direct the sale of the company in 2003 to The Topps Company.

Prior to WizKids, Mr. Virgin served as interim CFO for two software companies and was involved in funding as well as financial operations.  In 1999, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of T&W Financial Corp, a commercial leasing company.  In that role, Mr. Virgin was responsible for financial management, including debt and equity financing, and investor relations.  From 1983 through 1999, Mr. Virgin held various positions with Seafirst Bank (now Bank of America), including serving as Senior Vice President and Controller.  From 1978 to 1983, Mr. Virgin worked in public accounting, performing audit and tax work for a variety of Northwest industries.

Mr. Virgin is a CPA and holds a B.A. in Business with an emphasis in accounting and an Executive M.B.A. from the University of Washington. He is a member of Financial Executives International, The American Institute of CPAs and the Washington Society of CPAs.
