Jim Torina - Sr. Managing Director, CEO, Chairman; Board Member

Mr. Torina has had a leadership role in a variety of industries, including enterprises focused on the computer software, insurance, real estate, technology marketing, construction and medical devices/software sectors. This varied history brings the training and experience needed to lead The University Funds.  His experience includes the following:

In addition to starting and managing several successful organizations, Mr. Torina has raised over $50 million in venture capital funds for his companies, including three successful road-shows. He possesses a deep understanding of the process to launch a successful startup. This knowledge is the basis for the UFunds Managed Launch Process that will be used to launch UFunds Portfolio Companies. Mr. Torina’s commitment to prior associates and extensive business success has attracted a high quality startup team for the UFunds.  His network of executive friends and associates presents a deep talent pool of people who may be willing to join him in one of the UFunds startups.  This ability to acquire and place quality senior executives into our companies is critical for the UFunds’ success.

Mr. Torina graduated from Washington State University (WSU) with a B.A. in Business Administration and has served as a Trustee of WSU since 2007.  Since 2007, Mr. Torina has served on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the Washington State University School of Pharmacy, as well as on the Advisory Board for its School of Business Entrepreneurship program.
